Rawlsian veil of ignorance notwithstanding, we are not interchangeable. I will never be born as you. Specificity is somehow important to us. Although it is probably sad when each mother dies, it was sad for me when mine died. Making some relationships special because they are mine is, in some sense, why I am even alive.
