Because, being human, unless I think about this, I tend to invite more people like myself to music things, which is to say, white males. There are in fact non-white, non-males doing things, and my field will not benefit from me forgetting that. In my particular area, digital audio interaction and algorithm design, diversity really needs work.
This is not a historical document, so I won’t be invoking the many historical figures here. I want a list of people I can email about gigs I’m organising now.
For the moment, this list is unsatisfyingly white.
